Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Penny From SF Mint

Question
Ok I was watching a show about US currence a couple of weeks ago and they showed a penny but under the date of the penny it had a "S". They said that this was because it was from the San Francisco mint and that it was very rare. I own one of these pennys and i was wondering is it realy worth a couple thousand. Its from 1944 and it does have the S under the year.

Answer
Yes, cents were made at the SF mint in 1944 and they have an "S" under the date.  As 282 million of them were made, they are not scarse and thus a circulated one has very little, if any, value over face.  If the piece is pristine, uncirculated, looking like it did the day it was minted with no noticeable marks or fingerprints, it might be worth a dollar or two.  Sorry, Jim Lawniczak
