Question
I have a 1999 proof set, and the penny in the set has some sort of discolor on the obversize the shape of an oval(just covering the lincoln memorial) Do you have any idea what could have cause this, and do you think it would increase, or decrease the value of the set.

          Thank You

Answer
Hi Kevin,

The discoloration is most likely caused by a contaminent within the holder.  It could be something as simple as a mint employee bearthing on the coin!  There is no way of predicting that will happen when you buy a set.

The set is definitely worth less than a set without a problem.  Ask yourself this; for the same price, which set would you want?
