Coin and Paper Money Collecting/Peruvian Sl de oro 1957

Question
I have a 1957 Sol de Oro from peru, good to excellent condition.
Can you place a value on it?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Philip, there were 3 million of these brass 1 Sol coins minted that year. Collector value of a coin depends on date, mint mark (if any), number minted and condition of a coin, including amount of wear, any dents, scratches or cleaning as well as collector demand for it. This one may be worth .10 with heavy wear to about .50 with moderate wear to maybe $$2 with light wear. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
