Question
Hello,

I recently purchased two rolls of 2007 George Washington dollars. One P and D. The only way I can tell them apart is because the dealer marked each roll's wrapper for me. They both say they are from Harrisburg, PA.

If I go to the bank and would like to get rolls, how can I tell if they are P or D coins without actually opening the roll?

Thanks for your help,

Jon

Answer
Jon, I don't think you can tell for sure without opening the roll and looking on the edge.  I have a roll of James Madison dollars I got at my bank, also rolled in Harrisburg, PA., by N.F. String & Son, Inc., which I assume is a private company.  They did not mark on the roll whether it was P or D and I can't think of a way to tell without opening it.  Jim Lawniczak
