Question Hello, recently,I found a very small gold coin,less than 1/2"in diameter,one side has a bear,and says..california gold.it is dated 1852.other side has a ladies head.also says 1/2 in large print.would appreciate any help or info you could provide me.Thank you.

Wht you describe sounds like a reproduction of the California Fractional Gold Coins. I have never seen one with a bear on it but this is not one of my specialties.
Your coin could be valuable but there with are so many copies and counterfeits, (as well as souveniers made), that it may not be worth more than the metal content if it is real gold.
The only way to if yours is real and get a price for it, is to show it to an expert to have appraised.
You can try a coin show and have an expert there look at it first-hand. You can find a local coin shop in the yellow pages. Pick one that has been in business a long time. Not all dealers are familiar with the fractional gold issues.
