Question
my name is mike and i was wondering if you could direct me to someplace where i could buy/find the new presidential coins without having to pay $2.90 each for them.  could i go to the bank, post office, and/or some other place and get these for a cheaper price...like face value?  thanks and i truly do appreciate any help that you can provide me...happy holidays, mike

Answer
Hi Mike,

Yes, these coins should be available at your local bank.  However not all banks carry them, and you have to ask for them specifically.  Also, usually you will only be able to get the currently released president -- older releases will likely have been all given out by the bank, so they won't have any more.  And your local banks will only carry one of the mints -- P(hiladelphia) or D(enver) -- you'll not likely be able to find both mints in your area.

And yes, another source would be the post office stamp machine, but you never know what you'll get out of the machine -- Presidential, Sacagawea, or Susan B. Anthony.

I do also sell them on my website ($2 apiece -- cheaper in quantities), so if you find that there are some that you cannot find otherwise, feel free to order them there :

I hope this helps,

Expertise

My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience

I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.
