Coin and Paper Money Collecting/gold dollar

Question
Hello
I have two gold coins face value in 5 dollars of 1901 and 10 dollars of 1899 of release.
It would be desirable to learn what their market price and where it is possible to sell them. I live in Portugal.

Answer
Hello, yaroslav from Portugal, hope all is well on that side of the ocean.  Gold coins can be difficult as there are lots of counterfeit pieces floating about.  In the U.S., PCGS, NGC, IGC, ANACS and others authenticate them.  Condition is very important to the numismatic value of these pieces.  For example, the 1901 half eagle ($5) listed in September 2006 at $175 in EF condition and $1800 in MS64 condition.  The 1899 Eagle ($10) was $305 in EF and $1760 in MS64.  You can go to www.ebay.com and do a search for 1899 $10 and 1901 $5 and see what others are selling.  I don't know what you need to do to sell on eBay, but it is important that you only sell authentic material.  Hope this helped, Jim Lawniczak
