Question
I found a 1813 half penny token that says on on side copper over paper? do you know anything about this

Answer
Brian, sorry, haven't heard of this one. I quickly checked Rulau's 1700-1900 U.S. Token catalog, but couldn't find anything like this (although it will be hard to find as the index is done by merchant or other title -- I tried copper and paper and found nothing). There were a series of Hard Times Tokens made in the 1830s, this seems to early to be in that series.  All I can suggest is going to www.ebay.com and doing a search for how someone who was selling this piece would describe it and see if you can see one for sale.  And try a similar search (maybe copper paper token?) at www.google.com.  Sorry I couldn't be more help, Jim Lawniczak
