Question
hi there.. just curious about a penny i found.. its from 2000 and is only stamped half way down the penny.. the other half is smooth.. looks like a mis-stamped penny.. wondering if its a lucky penny or one to go in the coin dish at the convience store.. lol  thank u for any information u can provide me on this penny.. reba

Answer
Sorry, Reba, I thought I had answered this question.  You have to send twice to actually send, and I must only have sent once.  My guess on this piece is that someone was fooling around with it and wiped out part of the cent (with an acid of some type).  But I can't be sure without seeing the piece and perhaps even with seeing it, as I am not an expert in mint errors.  You may want to go to www.ebay.com and do a search for something like "cent error mis-stamped" and see if anything comes up.  Or show it to an expert at your local coin dealer or a coin show.  Hope this helps, Jim Lawniczak
