Question
I have a 2001 New York quarter and it looks to be mis-stamped and some of the silver clad is missing. The face side of the quarter has an extra round rim about on the center of the face and the back side has some of the silver clad missing. Can you tell me what this coin may be worth. I tried to take a picture to email to you but I can not get a good picture. Thanks for any help of info on my coin.

Answer
Hi Judy,
It sounds to be to be damage caused by a coin counting machine.  I have seen the extra rim on other coins, and the counting machine was the culprit.  It is highly likely that the missing nickel plating was also worn off by the same machine.
