Question
i would like to know if this coin is worth anything.  the stamp is off center on both sides and has a thick lip on each side.  also on the groove on the outside is a lot of smooth metal instead of the groove that is supposed to be there.

Answer
Hello Cheryl,

Without seeing it this coin it does sound like it is a broadstrike error.
It may sell for as much as $10 for a coin that was struck out of the retaining collar that holds it in the press.
When coins are struck without being contained they spread out larger than a normal piece. And a quarter would have a plain edge to it. The image is usually full on both sides as well.
Error coin collectors are the ones who will pay higher prices for it. Normally coin collectors want perfectly struck coins and collect them in the highest grade possible.
