Coin and Paper Money Collecting/need the value of this penny

Question
I have a copper penny about the size of a current U.S. half dollar.  On one side is a picture of Lady Liberty with a crown on her head with the word LIBERTY printed on it, and on the other the words:
ONE
CENT
appear in the middle, surrounded by a circle of wheat and the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around that.  The liberty penny is from 1837, as printed below Lady Liberty’s head, and I would like to know the value of it as soon as you get the chance.

Thank you, Mr. Hylas

Cheryl

Answer
Hi Cheryl,
It sounds like you have a US Large Cent.  These were struck up until the 1850's.
Depending upon the condition, it is worth between $5 and $500 (if in mint condition)
It would have to be inspected to give you an accurate value
Regards
Joe
