Question
i have a nickel coin board with the dates of 1928 in order to like 1945, and an explanation about the jefferson nickel. the stell penny boads has three steel pennies, dated 1943 and it explains how and why the steel penny was used during the war .  can u give me an idea of what their worth might be, thank you very much

Answer
Karen,

From 1928 on, the mintages of Buffalo nickels were pretty high, so they are considered common -- worth 50 cents apiece.  The exception is the 1931 -- worth about $12.00

Most Jefferson nickels have very little value.  The ones from 1938 and 1939 will have some value, IF they have a "D" or "S" mintmark on the back, to the right of the building -- let me know if you find any like that.  And the ones from 1942 to 1945 will be silver IF they have a large letter P,D,or S on the back above the building -- worth about 25 cents apiece.

I hope this helps,

Dan

The 3-coin steel cent sets have a retail value of about a dollar.

I hope this helps,

Dan
