About Dan Moore
Expertise
My strong familiarity with all U.S. Mint coins, extensive reference library, and close relationships with many other dealers allows me to identify just about any coin made in the USA. I receive regular updates to all the current price guides -- both wholesale & retail -- to provide accurate values. So, with a good description or pictures, I should be able to identify and value any U.S. coin you have.

Experience
I've been a coin dealer since the 1980's and a coin collector since the 1960's. I specialize in U.S. Silver Coins and have an active online website -- The Working Man's Rare Coins -- http://www.workingmancoins.com -- offering information and inventory in U.S. coins.

Organizations I belong to :
American Numismatic Association Member #187770
Michigan State Numismatic Society Member #8255
Florida United Numismatics Member #19710

Question
i hav been left a large quantity of old coins i have a gold looking coin with the words 1751 one doubloon on one side and on the other one doubloonwith a picture of a ship.where is it from and what is its worth.i also have a george v and queen mary commerorative gold medal coin with the date june 22 1911 is this collectable
thanx sarah

Answer
Hi Sarah,

I'm unfamiliar with the doubloon you described, but if genuine, it could be worth thousands of dollars.

The other coin is a Rowntrees Coronation Medal commemorating the 1911 Coronation of H.M.King George V and H.M.Queen Mary.  Most likely this is brass.  I have not seen any gold ones, but the brass ones have been selling in the $2-$5 range.

You should get first-hand professional appraisals for these two coins to be sure of what they are.  You can take them to any coin show and get free appraisals from the dealers there.  Try checking the following websites to see if there are any upcoming coin shows in your area :

Good luck!

Dan
