QuestionParsons$C. Assayers Col. 1860 twenty dolls
I have one of this coins
AnswerHello,
I am not quite sure of what information you are requesting. Feel free to write me back if this answer does not give you the information you can use.
Parsons & Co. operated with Tarryall Mines in Colorado in 1861. I am not familiar with your "1860 twenty dolls" coin, I haven't any products from them and can not help with a description for your piece. It may be a souvenir or counterfeit.
I will ask some of my associates, keep looking for more information and post it on this site for you. Sorry I could not find out more for you at this time.
Another thing for you to try, at larger coin shows, there are authenticators willing to give their opinion at the table for free.
If you don't have coins shows in your area or need to find a trustworthy dealer I may be able to help. If you can give me the nearest large Cities, some postal zip codes and telephone area codes. I will refer you to an expert in your area.
I did want to send you this information though:
Here is a great description and story as well as a great photo of the Parson two and a half dollar coin.

Here is a COINWORLD MAGAZINE ARTICLE - on pioneer gold. It has a few reference books mentioned you can look for. Like Private Gold Coins and Patterns of the United States" by Donald H. Kagin

A short history of the area but no mention of assay operations.
