Question
I have a penny that has a flamingo like bird on the front. It also says IP. Then on the back it says erie and other things but because it's so old i cant make them out. Where do you suppose this penny is from?

Answer
Marina, I think you have an Irish coin (with Eire on it?).  You don't say what date it is (maybe that is worn off?)  Most Irish coins have harps on them too.  Are you sure it says "1P?"  On the pennies I see it looks like "1d."  Go to www.ebay.com and do a search for Irish coin and lots will come up (over 300 when I just did it now).  You can compare the pictures to your piece to find out what you have.  Jim Lawniczak
