Coin and Paper Money Collecting/quarter not stamped on front

Question
I have a quarter that is not stamped on the front, is it worth anything?

Answer
Denise, I was told by an expert in the minting process that it is not possible to strike a coin on one side only (there has to be a die in on both sides).  There are weak strikes, and also strikes through materials, but I have never heard of one so weak that there was no evidence of a strike at all.
I had an 1814 large cent that appeared not to be struck on the reverse.  However, what had happened was that the reverse was planed off.  That is the most likely explanation of your quarter.  Check to see if it is as thick as a normal quarter.  I believe that the U.S. government still stands behind its products, so that your piece should still be good for the 25 cents, Jim Lawniczak
