Do U know anything about a 1/2 dime that was made in the middle 1800's?

Hello Mumz,                                     

There was no provision for a modern nickel in the early days of the USA.
The HALF DIME was made starting in 1794 and continued until 1873 even though the nickel started being produced in 1866.
By the middle of the 1800's they used a Seated Liberty design.
