Question
i have a sacagawea coin and it has a blue sheen to it. it has beatiful luster. i have had it for over 2 yrs, when i got it it was blue. i was wondering what can cause this. the rim of the coin has no discoloration and the discoloration is evenly displayed over the rest of the coin. would really appreciate any suggestions. thanx again

Answer
Hi Lalli,

It sounds like your coin toned over time possibly because of the holder or storage it was placed in.  It could be natural toning and it could be aritificial which happens when gas or some type of sulfer was added to the surface to speed up the color progression.  The only way to know is to see the coin.
