Question
I have proof sets going back to l955- some gold and silver american eagles, etc. I'm looking to sell all now.what's a good way to sell -a dealer? Ebay?

Answer
Hi Gary,
Personally, I would say sell to a dealer and for these reasons;  Selling on EBAY is uncertain, you don't know if the item will sell or for how much.  There are seller's fees involved which are about 10% when all is said and done, the coins must be photographed and listed which takes time and you have to be available to answer any questions that bidders may have.  The last thing is that ebay buyers know prices and will not pay anywhere retail so let's say you get wholesale and then deduct the fees and your time.  My conclusion is that it just doesn't pay for common items such as you have.

Find a local dealer whom you feel you can trust.  Or if you want, ship them to me and I will buy them.  I've been doing this for 26 years professionally, not part time, and I have more references than you would care to read.  If this is the route you choose, call me at 800-474-6960 and I will give you shipping instructions.
