Coin and Paper Money Collecting/silver coin scrap

Question
I have over ten pounds of 90% silver coins but the condition as coins isn't so good...Can I sell the lot as scrap and if so How and where and how much is it worth?

Answer
Hi Steve,

Silver closed at $13.01 an ounce on Friday.  If the coins are beat up and not in that good of a condition thats still ok.  many coin and jewelry dealers will buy scrap silver 90% coins around 8-10 times face value.  So one silver half dollar might bring $4-5 each....it really ads up quick.  Look up a local coin dealer in your phone book and give him a call and see if he buys scrap silver.
