-----Question-----
I have collected all the state quarters from the mint and have them in the original rolls. What is the best way to preserve these ?
-----Answer-----
Hello Trey,

These coins are history in your hands and make a great gift for anyone who has not seen or used them. It may even start them collecting.
Try to keep your coins in  a cool dry place using acid-free medium like Photograph storage boxes or inert plastics like Tupperware. I also put a desiccant like silica-gel in the Tupperware or storage area.

I do not see the value going higher (except due to inflation) in the near future. By all means hang on to them and hand them down.

Answer
Hello again Trey,

It depends on what your intention is for the rolls. They may never go higher than what you paid for them if you got them directly from the mint. And as individual coins they will not double in value.
If you want a perfect specimen you may look through the entire roll and not find a perfect coin or all of them could grade Mint State 69. You never know.

I have heard both sides, if the rolls are in plastic it is not necessary but sometimes paper rolls discolor the coin. I have not seen this on the copper nickel coins but it could happen.

Since the coins are the important thing and not the roll, they are usually taken from rolls and graded. they are then assigned a value and stored.  Yet some state quarter collectors will prefer to pay extra to get the mint issued roll or bag. So if your intention is to sell them you would have to consider this.

Sorry I cannot give you a definite answer.
