QuestionQUESTION: so i was at work yesturday and u unrolled a brand new roll of quarters, one of them didnt have a stamp at all not on the front or back, now i know it probably isnt worth much more then a normal quarter itself because its is a new one, wyoming im sure (thats what the rest of the quarters were) my question though is it worth holding on to to posibly sell later, will its worth grow?
hopefully you can tell me!
ANSWER: Hello Stephanie,
Without actually seeing the piece no one can say for sure. It is very likely a coin blank but things like this should be looked at by a coin dealer to be authenticated.
Can you see the copper in the middle on the edge of the coin?
These blank coins do get through the minting process. A blank quarter should weigh 5.67 grams and have a 24.3 mm reeded edge.
If your coin blank does not fall into these specifications it may be something else. Was your roll wrapped from the Federal Reserve or a third party company? (Like Brinks or Wells Fargo)
There are two types of coin blanks. The type one has a rougher edge.
For the type 2 the Mint makes the blank and them rolls an edge onto the coin causing a raised rim on both sides. Does your piece have this feature?
If it is an actual blank both types are valued about the same selling at coin shows around $5 usually less than $10 dollars. There is no great demand but collectors do purchase them.
I hope this information helps.
Good Luck

QUESTION: um it does show the copper, and the edge of the coin is smoother it doenst have the ridges stamped quarters do, i dont know who rolled the coins but they were delievered to out store so im guessing at least a bank.
AnswerHello again Stephanie,
Thank you for the information, It does indeed seem like a quarter blank. Almost all bank sources use rolling machines on large bags of coins as they distribute them.
It may sell as I said from $5 to $10 dollars to an error collector.
Here are two ebay items like yours, you can see how much they sell for.
