About Don Wessely
Expertise
I can answer questions about grading and history of U.S. coins and currency. I don't give out values of coins and notes I can't see to grade properly according to current standards. I have been collecting for ten years and have vast knowledge in regular issue coins only and not error coins, which is a special field in coin and note collecting. I`m a prior PCGS member and have text book knowledge of coins and currency.

Coin Collecting - unstamped quarter

Expert: Don Wessely - 1/16/2006

Question
My wife works at a bank. Last week she opened a new roll of state quarters and found one that was not stamped on either side. You can see a faint impression on one side of a circle, but nothing to determine if it's the head or tail side. The ridges are not on it as well, who can I take this to and see if it a true minting error.

Thank you
Scott Madl

Answer
HI SCOTT,
I DON'T DEAL IN ERROR COINS, BUT IF YOU TAKE IT TO A PCGS COIN DEALER HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL YOU IF IT'S REAL. YOU COULD ALSO SEND IT INTO ANACS AND GET IT CHECKED AND GRADED. THEY ARE AT WWW.ANACS.COM AND THEY HAVE DETAILS ON COST AND SHIPPING INFO. I HOPE THIS HELPS AND THANKS FOR YOUR QUESTION.

SINCERELY,  DON
