Question
QUESTION: Going thru my deceased father's collection of coins, I discovered a very unusual 1960 D Jefferson nickel. What made it odd was that on the obverse side the second 'O' in MONTICELLO is turned at a 45 degree angle. Can you help me? Is this a rare coin?

ANSWER: The planchette may have shifted in the striking process. This is a minor manufacturing error of no consequence. Sorry.

QUESTION: Hey there, sorry to be a pest, but I made an important discovery; what I thouht was a tilted 'O' is in reality a tilted 'D'! Any new thoughts. I am getting very positive responses from your colleagues.

Answer
You are not a pest. Have it certified by NGC or PCGS and get the final answer. I can not help you furthur with out the coin and besides, this coin is hubbed complete except the mint mark, so it is 99.9% impossible for what you describe to be accurate. Still, I wish you luck, but don't bet again me. Regards. nsberman@msn.com
