Question
QUESTION: I have inheritied some money, not sure of its worth if anything more than face value. I am asking a few people to get a barometer of the worth.I have the following. and maybe you are interested in buying. I am not a currency guy, so please excuse my descriptions, feel free to inquire.

95 Blue Seal 1957 one dollar bills - some say 1957, 1957A and 1957B
16 $2 dollar bills, some 1953, 1963 and 1976   red seal on the 53 and 63's
5 Red Seal $5 bills - 1953 and 1963

now the fun begins

1 $20 "in Gold Coin" from 1922  front is decent, back is faded

1 "Liberty" 1936 $0.50 coin
1 1879 one dollar coin
1 1880 one dollar coin
1 1882 one dollar coin
1 1885 one dollar coin
1 1886 one dollar coin
2 1899 one dollar coin
2 1900 one dollar coins
1 1904 one dollar coin
1 1921 one dollar coin

and
1 1972 one dollar coin
1 BiCentennial 1776-1976 $0.50 coin

ANSWER: Hello Tom what you have is certainly a interesting mix the small size currency has very little value over face but still worth hanging on to,the large 20 bill has some collector value and the early silver dollars have collector value but I would have to know more to determine their value. The 1972 dollar coin and the bicentennial coin just spend them, look forward to hearing from you again .PS the 1936 liberty coin is worth something also over face

QUESTION: Hi John,
Thanks for your response. let me clarify so I don't go spend a valuable piece. The $1 bills, $2 bill and the $5 bills could be spent, not much added value.
The 1922 'in gold coin' has some value-is this something a bank would pay me in gold? what is the meaning 'in gold coin'? The Morgan dollars are really cool, but what? worth maybe $2-$3 tops? They are above good in quality.
What is your guess on the 1936 coin? it is in very good shape. Thanks. and finally, is ebay a good place to sell the $20 1922 bill?
Respectfully, Tom

Answer
Well Tom the small bolls are still collectable the morgan dollars could be worth ALOT more depending on condition and mintmark which is found below the eagle on the reverse. And no the bank quit redeeming gold notes like you have in 1933 but Ebay is a good place to sell the 20 dollar bill
