is on the front of the coin and is she Indian?

Answer
Hello Druecilla,

Thanks for the question.  I need to know the date on this coin to help you. If it is not 2000 to 2006 please write me back.
If it is a U.S. DOLLAR COIN dated 2000 to 2006 it is called the Sacagawea Dollar and is common, it contains no gold at all.
They are the US dollar coin issued every year since 2000 until the  PRESIDENTIAL SERIES dollar starting in 2007.
Sacagawea was the indispensable Shoshone guide that aided in the successful Lewis and Clark Expedition west in the early 1800's.  Sacagawea and her baby are depicted on the obverse of the coin and the majestic American bald eagle is on the reverse
Her baby depicted on the coin is "Jean Baptiste" It is SACAGAWEAs' baby.  Although only 14 at the time of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, she had an infant son.
Six months pregnant when she joined the Lewis and Clark expedition, Sacagawea gave birth to Jean Baptiste early in the journey.

I hope this answers your question.
