Question

Gun Powder Pouch
Hi, my mother found this buried underneath our house in South Wentworthville NSW back in 1981 and has kept it hidden away until now. It is stamped by James Dixon & Sons Sheffield. Its a lovely piece, in very good condition with a lovely scene of birds on the front and an insignia in the centre. I found a similar insignia on a website "English Electroplate Silver", but its not exactly the same. Any idea how old this might be and how much its worth.
Appreciate your time. Sue Newtown NSW 2042

Dixons was a prolific manufactory of many kinds of base metalwares - mainly Britannia metal, silver plate, and silver, but also copper and brass items - based in Sheffield, England. The "Sons" suggests a date not earlier than about 1835. That form of the trade name continued in use into the 1970s. Your powder flask (not pouch) probably dates to the mid 19th Century.

Value a few tens of AU$.
