Question
My friend has a Franklin Piano and was wondering what year it was made in. The
serial number is 14211. We know it was made in New York. Anything you can
tell us about it will be great. Thank you for your time.
Diane

Answer
Hi Again Diane
Just recieved this info on your friends piano.
Its from Fred Taylor on this site so you can depend on its accuracy.
"Eileen - You can go back to your reader and tell them the Franklin Piano #14211 was made in 1900 (Pierce Piano Atlas). Fred"
Many Thanks to Fred

Hi Diane
Nice to hear from you.
I was surprised to see Franklin pianos are not mentioned here
http://www.bluebookofpianos.com/ages/#KIMBALL

All I could find for you was this
"FRANKLIN
Manufacture of this excellent line of upright and grand pianos began in New York City in 1881. The Franklin is an instrument that fulfills the exacting requirements of those music lovers who appreciate and demand a piano constructed in accordance with the highest ideals of musical craftsmanship and fittingly housed in a case whose design and finish are the acme of elegance. It is made by the Franklin Piano Co. That the Ampico is now offered the musical public in the favorite Franklin is sufficient recommendation of the quality of the Franklin instrument. A new line of designs has been recently placed on the market, and has been accorded the highest approval."

I found that here
http://www.bluebookofpianos.com/agesf.htm#FRANKLIN
The number you need is on the back on that huge metal part.
Perhaps a better look on the above sites will find what you want.
Good Luck
Regards

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
