Question
I can't find any info on this. I have a half pint tankard
pewter - glass bottom etched with a gibbet and hanging man and the words "the last drop".
Double C type handle. Marks are like silver marks.
rampant lion. sword. and T & C. and a 5
On the front a crown over motto. FRANCAS NON FLECTES.
I would love to know the age of this mug and perhaps maker.
Is it Scottish pewter do you think?
Best wishes

These punning 'last drop' mugs are giftware, made from the mid 20th Century onwards. Most were made in Sheffield. The marks on yours suggest it was made in London, by Englefields, but using marks of a predecessor firm from the late 18th Century. Please, though, do not think your piece could be 18th Century - it cannot be earlier than about 1955. The motto will refer to some event or institution connected with the gift.
