Question
I have just been given an dark green Elna Junior Sewing Machine date August 1956 with instructions (although page missing),clamp, musical box & storage box. 104584. The machine itself is in very good condition. Can you give me an idea on value? Many Thanks

Answer
Gaby,
Your machine was manufactured at Tavaro SA Geneva, Switzerland and it dates to 1956. There were about 45,000 Elna Junior machines produced between 1956 and 1963. The all green machine is the first model produced. This machine was sold in a simulated leather cardboard case. It could be purchased with or without a music box and there was a choice of songs.
If your machine is in MINT condition then I'd put a value range of $200 - $250 on it.
Hope this helps.
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
