Question
Hi! Thanks for taking time to answer my question. I have an advertising Thimble from C.& S. Furniture Co. I live in PA, the only place I found on the I-net was in IOWA. The writing on it is clear and bears the motto "Where Your Money Buys The Most." Can you give me an idea of the value and if it has any significant history (other than the advertising angle). I also have a pair of aluminum pinking shears that are made by Edgemaster. They came from the same estate. Would these have any value to a collector? Thanks so much! Debi
AnswerHello Debi. You don't say what material the thimble is made from, so I will assume it is a plastic advertising thimble. These were popular give aways in the 50s. They are collectible but have minimal value as they were made in great quantities. In excellent condition, your thimble is valued at $5-$8. I don't do historical information on advertisements, but you could do an internet search or check you local library for reference books on businesses. As far as the pinking shears are concerned, this type of scissor was introduced in the 1920s. However, I cannot date yours. Again, Edgemaster may be a company that can be researched through the internet or your local library's business directories (I forget the name of the publication, but they go back for many years so that defunction companies can also be researched). Good luck with your search. Barbara
