Collectibles-General (Antiques)/pewter inheritance

Question
Dear Mr. Roberts,
I recently inherited my grandparent's pewter collection  including pitchers, plates, decorative containers, bowls, candlesticks, etc. I am wondering what market value it has as a lot (or individually), if any. I'm unsure of the source(s), but I know the items were collected over time. What are some details should I be looking for and what advice do you have for a novice in this situation? I appreciate your time, expertise and consideration.

Hello Jen,

The simple answer, and the best place to start, is that you should have someone knowledgeable about pewter look over the collection. If you are able to send digital photos, I would be happy to assist with a basic assessment, and advise on how best to proceed and whether a more detailed appraisal is required. You can send photos to stynt@btopenworld.com - just a few overview photos would be fine to begin with, provided they are sharp and of relatively high resolution.

Hope that helps.
