Question

Bar measure
I wonder if you can enlighten me on the age history and value of this bar measure. My mother purchased it at a country auction in Blofield in 1976 and I have wondered about it for many years. On the bottom is written the name, Gaskell and Chambers Ltd Birmingham Made in England England and underscored with the letter M.
I will attach a photo.

Cheers Rob

Hello Robert,

Your little measure was not very old when purchased in 1976. Gaskell & Chambers continued making the smaller sizes of pewter measures of this form after the mid 20th Century.

Such measures are very common, and values are less than 5 pounds / 10 dollars.

Hope that helps.
