I have a type 8000 gram measurement scale from the Exact Weight Scale Company, in very good condition. What can you tell me about this scale? Is there any value in it?
Answer Hi Dan,
The Smith Scale Co., manufacturer of the Exact Weight Scales, was "organized in 1916, for the purpose of making scales under the patents of Walter Standish Smith." Smith later changed its name to Exact Weight Scale Co., was in Columbus, OH and was in business at least until 1973 as evidenced by patents assigned to the company. Your Under/Over Scale was most likely manufactured in the 1920s to the 1940s and is made of cast aluminum. Retail value in the condition as shown might be from $50-$150.
