Hi i just purchased this set, do you have any info on it or even a value of any kind. I would like to know if i made a good purchase or a bad purchase, i do really like the whole set. Thanks any help would be appreciated..Thomas
Answer Thomas - Spiesz Furniture was formed in Hanover, Ontario in 1910 and was in continuous production until it was sold in the 1960s. Your set was made in the 1930s of oak and oak veneer. The style is Colonial Revival that reproduces styles of the 17th and 18th century. The base style is Jacobean, popular in the 17th century. The table is called "draw" table, one of the earliest forms of extension tables from the 16th century.
As a complete set your set would sell in the US at auction for around $400. If sold individually the separate pieces would sell for more, table $150, chairs $100, sideboard $150, china $250.
