Subject: wooden minerva statue

Question
I own a wooden statue of Minerva carved from a white pine tree.  She is 8 feet tall and not a figurehead from a ship.  She has a flat head and I was told she may be off a carousel or circus wagon.  I have also been informed her style is late 19th or early 20th century.  Can you give me any information or direction?  Sincerely,  Bill Cottonaro

Answer
This piece doesn't look like it would have been part of any amusement ride.   I have no idea what it could have been from.  You may want to contact the good folks at Americana Antiques in Maryland since they handle many wood carvings.  I believe the email address is:
emmy@intercom.net

Good luck!
