Question I have been given a secretary with a large-ish glass cabinet that sits on top of the desk. Inside one of the drawers is the mark of the Monitor Furniture Company, Jamestown, New York. Can you tell me anything about the Monitor Furniture Company?
Answer Pamela - Monitor was founded in Jamestown in 1919 and specialized in high quality solid cherry Colonial Revival furniture. Its specialty was the bookcase secretary. They went out of business in the late 1980s.
