About Irene Schwall
Expertise
I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. Please note: I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing -- I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.

Experience
My expertise is in ANTIQUE sewing or needlework tools & thimbles, gold, silver, brass, ivory, bone etc. Modern thimbles are not necessarily my strong point but I may be able to help so don't hesitate to ask. I am also very well versed in the identification of Hallmarks on sewing collectibles.

Question
QUESTION: I was given a Dahlton thimble - marked Reine Kandarbeit.  It is in great condition. It looks like lace going around the entire thimble with about 5 roses.  Could you tell me about what it is worth?

ANSWER: Hello Jill,
Are you able to send me a photograph of your thimble please?
Thank you.
Regards,
Irene

QUESTION: Here is the picture.

Answer
Hello Jill,
I have not seen this thimble before made by Reine Kandarbeit and have not heard of Dahlton either, sorry.
I asked a few thimble friends who specifically collect modern porcelain thimbles and some have similar lacy-like thimbles made by Irish Dresden and these sell for about $19 - $32.
I regret that I am not able to specifically answer your question but will keep this file open and if I stumble across the information, I will contact you.
Regards,
Irene

Hello Jill,
I have just been looking up information on a different thimble and came across a very similar thimble to yours. It is listed in a catalog by Peter J. Walter (Germany)dated 1985-86.  It shows a frilly lace-like thimble with a yellow rose on the side, pink rose on the top. It is listed as "Lacework in Porcelain".  The inside is signed with the Dresden, Germany trademark."  They sold for $21.50
Regards,
Irene
