Question

penny scale
I have a Watling penny springless fortune telling weighing scale and was thinking of selling it. Do you know its value and any antique dealers that would be interested. I also have National Cash register, can you tell me anything on this also?

Thanks
Marchell

Answer
Hi Marchell,

Hay Great Legs!, I had a chuckle when I seen your photo up close, the things that show up when your taking a photo where there is a mirror involved. Lets get to your Watling made in 1948 "Fortune Telling Model 400, made in 1948 scale". This was one of the most popular Watling scales after the war. You asked a question (among 21 knob set possibilities) and the machine answers on a small drum dial window forward of the weight window BUT, the model 400 kicked that up a little by offering 200 different fortunes!, and said so on a mirrored marquee, Very desirable as it is fun. Value $450.00
As for the cash register I can't help you, it's not a coin operated game and I don't follow them, sorry. I hope you enjoy this information.
Cheers

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Please email photo's to: jackpot7@ix.netcom.com My web site is at: http://www.coinslots.com

Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
