Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Betsy Ross Toy Sewing Machine

Question
I have become steward of a Betsy Ross Sewing Machine that was left behind after the death of my Aunt. In every instance where I have read about one of these machines, it has come in a red alligator case with a plastic handle. This particular one is in an original cardboard box of fair condition. It is also green, cast metal, and I don't believe ever used. But I haven't studied it's markings and won't know if it is model 707 for a few days. Could you tell me what you know about the version of this machine in the cardboard box? Would it help if I took pictures and sent them? Would the value be the same as the machines in the red alligator box?
I really appreciate your help.
Thank you,
Signe

Answer
Hello Signe,
It sounds like you might have the Betsy Ross that was sold in a box of red simulated leather that is covering pressboard.  Is you model electric?  This model dates to the 1950's.
Photos would be very helpful, thank you.
Regards,
Irene

Expertise

I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing. I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.
