Question
QUESTION: My husband and I purchased this old hanging lamp several years ago. We wanted one that had not been electrified and that we both liked (huge order!!!) Anyway, we found it and love it - using it regularly to eat our dinner. (It is now over an antique round oak table that my parents had and looks wonderful.)
I would be happy to send a picture if you tell me where to send it. The original smoke bell is not with it. The shade is approx. 8.5" high (including brass top edge) and 14/25" in diameter. On the inside of the shade, in gold writing is "#235" (small in size) The wick is round (like the top of a sock). I'd be happy to provide any additional information that you would like. Thanks so very, very much -
PS Oh, now as I continue on with this webpage, I see how to add a picture.
ANSWER: You described it but didn't say what you were asking of me.

QUESTION: I'm sorry - I was so excited to find some help!!! We just want to know ANYTHING/EVERYTHING we can about it - age, company that made it, hence - history of where it came from in terms of geography, etc. I noted that in my original question, it the diameter measurement was not written correctly. It should be 14.25" We'd just like to know about it. Thanks again!
AnswerHi, I can't give you much info except that these type of lamps were called library or parlor lamps and were from the victorian era. Here ia a link to a Mfg. that makes quality reproductions of your type. Maybe you can find info from them.
