Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Yates and Dixon

Question
Hello. I am inquiring about a mug or can with the mark of Yates and Dixon on it, also there is  an undecipherable mark below. I presume that would be the city of origin. Do you have any idea of what years they worked together and in what city. Thank you. Jon Flail

Answer
-

Yates and Dixon are two famous names in 19th Century English pewtering, and both were prolific. But they worked in different places, used entirely different manufacturing methods, and did not, so far as I am aware, work together at any time.

Are you sure you have the names right? If so, please send me photos of the piece, including one good clear photo from the side, and one close-up of the mark, and I shall comment further. Photos to stynt@btopenworld.com
