About Irene Schwall
Expertise
I have been a collector of antique sewing tools and thimbles for over 30 years. I am also a dealer in this field and sell on eBay under the name -- serengeti2. Please note: I am NOT, and I repeat NOT an expert on antique or vintage domestic household sewing machines used for everyday home sewing -- I can offer help when it comes to TOY or miniature collectible sewing machines ONLY.

Experience
My expertise is in ANTIQUE sewing or needlework tools & thimbles, gold, silver, brass, ivory, bone etc. Modern thimbles are not necessarily my strong point but I may be able to help so don't hesitate to ask. I am also very well versed in the identification of Hallmarks on sewing collectibles.

Subject: cast iron Singer Sewing Machine Cabinet

Question
We have an old cast iron Sewing Machine Cabinet - no machine - it is very heavy - has a hole cut in the top I'm assuming for the machine itself.  It has a wheel on one side and a pedal on the bottom.  The sides are very decorative and have "The Singer Manfg. Co." on the sides with "Trademark" underneath - it measures about 18" x 36" - didn't exactly measure.  Any thoughts if it is worth anything the year it might have been manufactured?  Thanks for your help!  Elaine

Answer
Hello Elaine,
I am sorry but I cannot be a great deal of help to you.  As I have written so many times before, am not an expert is domestic or household sewing machines.  My expertise is in toy or miniature collectibe(salesman samples) sewing machines only.

However, here are a few websites that you might find interesting and perhaps someone might be able to help you determine the age and worth of your item.
