Expert: Fred Taylor Date: 6/1/2008 Subject: two tier, round imperial tea table
Question I asked Ms. Cronk a question earlier and she answered but then referenced me to your direction.....
Today at a tag sale, I purchased an Imperial Furniture Co., two tier mahogany table with an EXCELLENT base and leg set, but the table tops show signs on age. The labels on the bottom of the table are in tact and it is also stamped with the number '1423'. Regarding this table, I am excited for several different reasons but the main reason is that I paid a whopping 2.00 for this table.
Ms. Cronk answered my questions regarding oils/waxes and completing a total refinishing but now I'm interested in a price range of this table.
I have found the same table, by the same maker and the same markings on line but with three tiers instead of two. This table only has two tiers and there are no visible signs of a smaller third tier on the top....but my main concern is this table on line (and there were several) had fairly hefty price tags on them and now I'm even more curious of it's value.
I'm certain it's difficult to give even an approximation of value not knowing the exact condition but maybe a range or even a reputable web location for further research would be helpful.
I appreciate your help and look forward to your response soon.
Thanks -
D.
Answer Daniel - I cannot give you even a ball park estimate without seeing the table. So far I can't tell if the table is a dumbwaiter, a lamp table, a step table or a coffee table.
If you can send me some photos of the table I will be happy to tell you what I can. You can send clear photos to me as .jpg files at info@furnituredetective.com. Please send the photos directly to me as .jpg files. DO NOT put them in an online photo album. Be sure to include a copy of your original inquiry so I can match them up or I will not respond.
Thanks
Fred Taylor
