Question
I'd like to what you would call this piece of furniture and if you could approx. the year it was built. It has a veneer finish and is 2 separate pieces (the top comes off).

Nice to hear from you.
Heres what I call this piece..a sideboard.
And a lovely one at that.
Its made of quarter sawn oak veneer and has a serpentine front.
The original finish has been replaced (very well), and its from the turn of the century I feel.
Old furniture at its best.

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
