Question

Cabinet and table
My husband and I were given a huge china cabinet as a wedding gift. We were told it from WWII era and is european. It is in two pieces, a top and bottom, together it is 7 feet high (not including the moldings on top that are removeable), 9 feet long and 2 feet deep. It also has a matching table that is 7 feet long with two rectangular legs that connect in the middle. What is the best way to sell something so large and heavy?  I would appreciate any information you could give us. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Mary
My goodness this piece is huge.
I would sell this at an auction house.
If you sell it from your house you will have strangers coming through. And it may be damaged if they attempt to move it.
The auction house should have men and a moving van to get it there.
Good Luck with this.
Kind Regards
Eileen

Expertise

I can answer most questions about the repairing and refinishing of all your old furniture items (the things we call antiques). I can also give you advice on what wood items to choose and what wood items to avoid at auctions, flea markets etc. I DO NOT give appraisals on antiques as this is not my field of expertise.

Experience

I have been repairing, refinishing and of course buying old furniture for the past 30 years. On any given weekend I can be found at auction sales or flea markets searching out a good buy. I have taken several courses in this area over the years, but I find "Hands On" learning to be the best teacher. I can help you avoid the pitfalls and problems of this wonderful rewarding craft.
