Collectibles-General (Antiques)/Value of 1955 pinball machine

Question
Hi, I have a Gottlieb Southern Belle pinball machine from 1955.  I have had this game for about 45 years although I have done little to maintain it.  Basically it is in good shape mechanically/electronically but is showing its age otherwise.  There is some flaking of the paint/ink from the backglass and a lot of crazing and warping of the plastic in the playfield.  I would appreciate it if you could tell me how to value it.  I have had this game for a long time and hesitate to part with it but since I am no longer using it, it seems only fair to me that someone else should enjoy it as I have over the years.

Answer
Hi Mike,
In average condition your game "Southern Bell" is worth $925.00. Made in 1955, and they made 1,000.00 of them. Anything less then average condition for all these years you could take away from the value, but your right in there some.
Thank You
Rodger

Expertise

I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience

I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
