Collectibles-General (Antiques)/dresser hardware

Question
We have an old dresser that we are restoring and it is missing one circular drop pull handle.  I haven't been able to find the same one.  "KBCO" is engraved on the back of every ring.  Is this the company that made them?  Do you know if they are still around?  Can you advise me on how to find a matching pull?

Answer
Thanks for your question,
Most companys that made hardware if they are still in business, have long melted down their old inventorys. Your best bet is to look at some replacement types such as you can find at www.vandykes.com. They are one of several companys that stock replacement hardware.
If you don't find a replacement that matches,[and you probably won't] look for one that is close to what's on you item now. Then you have 2 options, one is to get one that is closest and put it one a bottom drawer where it will be less noticable or 2nd, buy all new hardware SAVING the old ones. Then you can start a search for the one missing at markets or on ebay. If you find the missing one, replace the hardware and sell the ones you bought. I once found some matching hardware I was looking for one a very old and beat-up dresser that I picked up at the bargin price of $5.Saved the hardware in case some more broke and burned the dresser in the wood stove to heat my shop!
 Good Luck,
