Question Hi I've been doing some family history research and found out that I have ties to the Ingersoll family from Pittsburgh, Pa. around the 1900's. They are the ones who built amusement parks and roller coasters all over the country. They also have invented some coin operated machines at the time. One of them was a lung testing machine. My question is have you ever heard of the Ingersoll name when it comes to coin operated machines ?
Thanks,
Don
Answer Hi Donald,
Your question intrigues me, sorry but that is why I took some time to answer you, as I have been looking some. I am not aware of a coin machine made by Ingersoll but that is sure not to say there isn't one as everyone was making them. It sounds like they would be very early arcade machines, as you say the lung testing machine. I am still looking to find some of them. Some of these early arcade games are rare and you don't get to see them but once in a while. Have you ever tried to do a patent search? I haven't but it might be the thing to do. I know there are a lot of patents for games no one has ever found yet. Interesting......... I'll be looking some more but was hoping to have something for you by now.
Sincerely
Rodger Knutson
I am an expert on old coin operated machines, slot machines, trade stimulator's, jukeboxes, old arcade machines, etc. I have been identifying these for people who respond to my web site listed below, for a few years now. In almost all cases I am able to tell them about their old coin operated machines, the year, the value, and other general information about their machines. I do not know much about soda vending machines, coin banks, or scales, but I will try to help you with these if I can. Experience
I bought my first slot machine, a .50 Cent Mills Black Cherry in 1969 and have been hooked from that time, I still have that Slot machine! Before that I found a open barrel full of old scraped jukebox wall boxes behind a restaurant, I wanted them all but never took a one of them. Anything that took a coin drove me nuts!
